Anonymous: does reeling in too slow break the chain?

Yes, reeling in too slow or too fast breaks the chain, as does moving your character from your spot, or failing to get a nibble. Suction Cups makes failing to get a nibble far, far less likely, and Suction Cups combined with fishing against rocks or a shore makes the hook rate nearly 100%, if not 100%.

Your chain is NOT broken from reeling in a different species, and you ARE allowed to run from encounters, unlike Radar chaining.

It is believed that catching anything, shiny or not, breaks the chain, but I personally haven’t seen confirmation on that.
